A series of deadly attacks targeting Christian communities in Ethiopia’s East Arsi Zone, in the Oromia Region, between late February and April, has raised deep concern among church leaders and local communities. Many now warn that what is happening is not a set of isolated incidents, but a repeated and growing pattern of violence. On Feb. 26, armed attackers struck civilians in the area, killing several people in what locals identified as a targeted attack against Orthodox Christians. Just two days later, on Feb. 28, another assault took place at a church.
