An Acehnese pastor, Dedi Saputra, has been detained by investigators with the Aceh Regional Police. The arrest was made after Saputra allegedly shared content on social media that authorities stated was hate speech and seen as insulting to Islam, which received widespread attention and elicited a public response. Operating under the alias Dedi Murtaddin on social media and running the TikTok account @tersadarkan5758, Saputra was located and arrested on Feb. 18 in Bengkayang, West Kalimantan. Several of his videos and social media posts circulated widely and were considered insulting or offensive to Islamic teachings by some.
